PLANNINGTOROCK

Well. I'd come to terms with spending 3 times the face price for my ticket to The Knife after learning how rare their public appearances are.

What I did not take into account was that PLANNINGTOROCK is opening for them and that is a show worth the triple ticket price alone.

Indian Summer Highlights

So - it's still beautiful here in San Francisco. I am soaking it up every day. Bike rides, walks, cutting out of work early just to enjoy the sunshine.

There's been a post drought here so here are highlights from the last few months:

- Discovering Sean Hayes. Bay Area treasure this man is - what fun - and shakes up some of my very jaded opinions regarding singer songwriters. I've somehow managed to see him 3 times in the last 4 months. Once at the Anselm Keifer exhibit opening, once at the Rickshaw Stop and another at The Independent. If you can catch him perform with Etienne DeRocher do!

- Seeing TV On The Radio at Download Festival. I love them and 'Return To Cookie Mountain' is stellar beginning to end. I'd seen them at The Independent and enjoyed them even more at *gasp* Shoreline.

- Meeting a ticket scapler at Mason and Eddy to pick up my ticket to see The Knife. This was just wrong in so many ways. They say admitting you have a problem is the first step. But the more I learn about and listen to The Knife the better I feel about having indulged.

- Dancing at The End Up. I have avoided this place ever since moving to San Francisco - mostly out of prejudice. I'm a dance hall snob. End of story. But I actually had a good time at The End Up. There's something odd that goes on in that place - a time warp perhaps - back to a time that never really existed for me but did in fact exist. I've decided that in a dance pinch it will do.

- Roller disco at Mighty. This sounds better than it actually is as alcohol and rollerskates do not mix. People were scattered across the dance floor - fun for a minute but not my cup of tea.

- Redecorating my place. I still need to get the monsterous armoire out of my place and will continue buying and/or making art for the walls. But for the most part the place is looking pretty great.

- Working on new music. Programming in Reason for base tracks and then playing and singing against; I still need to find a good tool to use to physically trigger electronics. That will be for this Fall/Winter.

- Completing 2 sewing projects. This was really good - I made clothes that I will actually wear.

- Painting - my kitchen is adrift in oil paint fumes at the moment. There is something so liberating about working in the visual. The act is so tactile and appeals to the sensualist in me. Creating something I can see makes me very happy.

- Organizing graduate meditation program. Our goal is once a week - 2 hours - open to grads from clairvoyant training program I completed in February. It's good. Very good. Got me thinking about eventually doing a teacher in training program.
